10-Day Vocal Odyssey Retreat
frequently asked questions
-
Where should I fly to?For most people - especially coming from North America - the best destination would be to fly to Athens, the capital city of Greece. From Europe, there are often flights to the islands of Mykonos and Santorini. Those two islands are located closer to Amorgos.
-
How do I get to the Island of Amorgos?Amorgos has no airport, therefore a ferry ride is needed to the island. Either a longer ride (7 to 9 hours) from Athens (the port of Piraeus) or a shorter ride (2 to 3 hours) from the islands of Mykonos, Naxos, Santorini or Paros (all have airports). You can check all ferries/boats/airports information here For timetables, prices and actual booking of ferries/boats, this is the best app: Ferry Hopper There are 2 two ports in Amorgos: Katapola and Aegiali. So please check the options for both ports. The two main ferry companies are SeaJets (faster and smaller vessels) and Blue Star (Slower and bigger vessels). It is not recommended to take the Skopelitis boat, unless you are adventurous and like sailing even if the ocean is having a wild day. There are lots of daily domestic flights between Athens and the Cycladic islands (Mykonos, Naxos, Santorini or Paros). So you can plan your trip in a way that you first arrive to Athens, then you either take the ferry from Athens to Amorgos, or you take a short domestic flight to any of the islands and from there a short boat trip to Amorgos. In this way you will be able to arrive gradually and gently while enjoying the beauty of the Greek islands. Importnat: SeaJets is working seasonally. Meaning, that by the middle of October, they are not so active anymore. SeaJets connect for example Amorgos with Santorini. So on the way to Amorgos (around the 9th, 10th or 11th of October. Whenever you decide to come), you will be able to take a ferry from Santorini to Amorgos. But on the way back (21st or 22nd. Whenever you decide to leave Amorgos) this ferry back to Santorini won't be available anymore. Unlike SeJets, Blue Star Ferries are working daily also during the off-season. Connecting Amorgos with Athens, Naxos, and Paros. The Greeks have a strange habit of releasing the schedule around 4-5 months before time. That's why we highly recommend: 1. Not to book your ferry tickets yet. Wait until the schedule for October is announced. Probbaly around may or June. 2. Enjoy an extra day in Greece before/after the retreat (in Athens or any of the internationally airport-based islands such as Santorini or Mykonos before flying back home). This will make your way easy and stress-free.
-
Are the flights and ferries included in the retreat’s price? No, each traveller is responsible for getting to Amorgos, Greece and back home. Once you arrive at the port Amorgos on the 11th of October, a shuttle on behalf of our hotel will transport you to the hotel. On the last day of the retreat, the 21st of October, a shuttle will take you back to the port.

What will the weather be like?October is one of the best times of year to visit Greece. It's autumn time. The temperatures cool off dramatically, offering respite from the scorching heat of the summer months. Please bring a selection of closing for all weather types. It can get windy in the Cycladic islands of Greece. And when the wind comes - it can get cold, especially in the evening. It is very likely that weather will still be hot enough for us all to dip in the sea and enjoy chilling on the beach.
